Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies are the five divisions of Paper 1.
The paper's difficulty level will be equivalent to that of a Class 12 student.
Paper 1 must be completed in 150 minutes (or two hours and thirty minutes) by the candidates.

Paper I is for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper II is for candidates who wish to teach classes 6 to 8. In case candidates wish to qualify to teach classes 1 – 8, they can appear for both papers in CTET. Both Paper I & II contain a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each.
